Each month, Bare! brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Bare! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.

This month, our intrepid storytellers put forward their best efforts for tales in which nice tries may finish last.

Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two, Spill!)

Diane Ivey (Mortified, Story League)

Nate Johnson (Story League)

Chuck Na (Story Collider, SpeakEasy)

Joseph Price (Mortified, SpeakEasy)

Musical guest Justin Trawick

. . . and you! You have a story of a try gone awry. Put your name in the hat for a chance to bare all on the Bare! stage.

And more! One lucky audience member will win Bare!’s sex-toy raffle, courtesy of Babeland.

Jefferson

Jefferson is the curator and host of Bare! A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around the city and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of the monthly series Spill! True Stories of Queer Sex, Desire and Romance.

Diane Ivey

Diane Ivey is a writer and storyteller. From a self-composed how-to guide on being an adventure heroine, to an obsessive college crush on the vaguely-Harrison-Ford-resembling editor of her college newspaper, to sundry forays into erotic historical fanfiction, Diane’s material comes from the tragic and hilarious place where fangirl obsession meets real life. Diane first performed in the January 2009 production of Mortified Chicago, reading her seventh-grade diary detailing her grandiose plans to write the next Gone With the Wind. She regularly performs with Story League in Washington, D.C.

Nate Johnson

Nate Johnson was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, and suffered brain damage as a result.  Despite that, he’s gone on to become a lawyer, lifeguard (two saves), actor, improvisor, and comedian.  As a comedian, he’s performed at the Lincoln Theater (Washington, D.C.), State Theater (Falls Church), Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, and a litany of other venues on the east coast.  He has an unusual perspective and a wealth of varied life experience.

Chuck Na

Chuck Na is a technology transfer professional working with government bioscience inventions. He earned a Masters degree from the Johns Hopkins University and has professional experience as a teacher, industry research and development, and biotech operations. Chuck currently lives in Columbia, Maryland, with his wonderful wife and their pet hedgehog, Mochi. In his free time, Chuck is a baseball card blogger trying to avoid becoming a parent.

Joseph Price

Joseph Price is a storyteller, playwright, and technologist. He has told stories on stage with Mortified, Story League, The Stoop, Ignite and SpeakeasyDC, where he is also a teacher. He is a founder of the technology art collective and parody startup Pepys Inc., creators of e-Geaux (beta). He is a co-producer of the experimental social storytelling series, The Tongue Party.

Justin Trawick

Justin Trawick is not just another man with a guitar. He’s a multi-talented performer, balancing between roles as a soloist and band frontman while on the side running the nationally touring songwriter series “The 9”. His self-described brand of “Urban Folk Rock” inspires comparisons with troubadours such as Bob Schneider, Ryan Adams and G. Love. The 29-year-old from Arlington, Virginia, invokes onstage a deep sense of raw emotional energy stemming from his incredibly personable lyrics and captivating delivery. Seamlessly balancing between the musical loner persona of a singer-songwriter and as the front man of his collective, The Justin Trawick Group, this versatility allows Trawick to rock out in clubs with his band to performances in intimate acoustic venues with just his guitar and his voice.
