Each month, Bare! brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Bare! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.

This month, our fresh-faced storytellers turn the pages on novel experiences:

Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two, Spill!)

Lori Baird (Kinky Stick Figure)

Kevin Phillips (Encyclopedia Show DC)

Nate Johnson (Story League)

Musical guest Mark Charles Heidinger of Vandaveer

. . . and you! You have a story of novelties sought or found. Put your name in the hat for a chance to bare all on the Bare! stage.

And more! One lucky audience member will win Bare!’s sex-toy raffle, courtesy of Babeland.

Jefferson

Jefferson is the curator and host of Bare! A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around the city and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of the monthly series Spill! True Stories of Queer Sex, Desire and Romance.

Lori Baird

Lori Baird is a New York City-based writer, editor, and storyteller. A two-time Moth StorySlam winner and Moth podcast featured storyteller, she’s launching a storytelling show and podcast, “Talking Cure,” featuring comedians and storytellers talking about their experiences in psychotherapy.

Nate Johnson

Nate Johnson was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, and suffered brain damage as a result. Despite that, he’s gone on to become a lawyer, lifeguard (two saves), actor, improvisor, and comedian. As a comedian, he’s performed at the Lincoln Theater (Washington, D.C.), State Theater (Falls Church), Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, and a litany of other venues on the east coast. He has an unusual perspective and a wealth of varied life experience.

Kevin Phillips is a comedian and storyteller by night and and an IT professional by morning and most of the afternoon. Hailing from quaint Spring Hill, Kansas, Kevin builds on his Midwest upbringing and endless fascination with yelling. Kevin can be seen performing across various venues all over DC/Baltimore area. Kevin also co-produces the Encyclopedia Show DC at the Woolly Mammoth, and likes to spend his free time sleeping upright.

Mark Charles Heidinger

Vandaveer is the song-singing, record-making, globe-trotting project penned and put forth by alt-folk tunesmith Mark Charles Heidinger. Born in Ohio, raised in Kentucky, and currently camped out in the nation’s capital, Vandaveer offers up melodic Americana that is both haunting and easy, forlorn and welcoming, with stories as universal as the songs they inhabit. Vandaveer shapeshifts from studio to stage and back with a revolving cast of characters, most prominent among them Rose Guerin, offering up the loveliest harmonies heard this side of Eden.
