Each month, Bare! brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Bare! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.
Join our wayfaring storytellers as they unfold tales of adventure.
Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two, Spill!)
Michele Carlo (Fish Out of Aqua)
David Crabb (Ask Me Stories)
Kelli Dunham (Queer Memoir)
William Mullin (Closet Cases)
Graham Eason Nolan (My High School Boyfriend Was Gay)
Musical guest Rob Paravonian
. . . and you! You have a story of adventures gone well or awry. Put your name in the hat for a chance to bare all on the Bare! stage.
And more! One lucky audience member will win Bare!’s sex-toy raffle, courtesy of Babeland.
Jefferson is the curator and host of Bare! A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around the city and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of the monthly series Spill! True Stories of Queer Sex, Desire and Romance.
Michele Carlo is a writer/performer who has lived in four of the five boroughs of New York City and remembers when a slice of pizza cost fifty cents. She has been published in Thomas Beller’s Neighborhood’s Lost & Found: Stories From New York, Chicken Soup For The Latino Soul, SMITH magazine and in the upcoming anthology It’s Always Been A War. She’s told stories almost everywhere a person can tell stories, including The Moth’s GrandSlams and Mainstage. Her memoir Fish Out Of Agua: My life on neither side of the (subway) tracks was published by Citadel Press in August 2010.
David Crabb is a performer, writer, director and storyteller in New York City. He is a two-time MothSlam champion and co-producer of Kevin Allison’s RISK! He is also the co-creator/producer of the live storytelling series Ask Me. David has been a member of NYC’s Axis Company Theatre since 2003, developing original material in New York, Paris and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. His one-person show “Bad Kid” was met with critical acclaim and enjoyed its second New York run in 2012.
Genderqueer nerdcomic Kelli Dunham is the host and co-founder of New York’s longest-running LGBTQ storytelling event, Queer Memoir. She performs at colleges, coffeehouses and pride events nationwide. Her comedy has been seen on Showtime and the Discovery Channel as well as once—just once—at a livestock auction. She wants to be your friend on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and any other future social networking platform, where her screen name is always (get this cleverness) kellidunham.
William Mullin has written and performed with Ed Helms of the Office as well as writing for Jane Lynch. He has performed at The Moth, and produces a storytelling show in Provincetown called Closet Cases.
Graham Eason Nolan is a writer, jaded improviser and fledgling comic. He’s recently performed in several new talent shows in connection with Manhattan Comedy School and made his storytelling debut at “My High School Boyfriend Was Gay” at UCBEast. A new New Yorker, Graham spent nine years in Chicago during which time he completed the Second City Conservatory program, wrote and performed with The Number 10 Productions and did a bad impersonation of Barack Obama that the President eventually saw. @grahamnolan
Rob Paravonian, well-known for his popular Pachelbel Rant, is a comedian, musician and writer who performs all over the U.S. and throughout world. Rob has released several CDs and has received millions of views of his videos on YouTube. In addition to performing standup across the country, Rob created three solo shows, has written one-act plays that have been produced in New York, and regularly writes for New York-based sketch group Spurn.
