Bare! True Stories of Sex, Desire and Romance brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. With stories as diverse as the people telling them, Bare! opens doors to bedrooms, back seats and dungeons to tell what your mama left out about the birds, bees and in-betweens.
Join our unerring storytellers as they reveal what happens when things go awry.
Hosted by Jefferson (One Life Take Two)
Damian Bellino (So Into It)
James Bradford (Can’t Get A Date)
Lynsey G (New York City Poetry Brothel)
Nisse Greenberg (Bad Feelings)
Jon Klein (MassMouth)
Musical guest Ben Lerman

Jefferson is the curator and host of Bare!, monthly in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. A sex educator and writer, Jefferson keeps a pseudonymous blog, One Life, Take Two, that details his life as a parent and pervert. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around New York and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySlam winner. He is also host of Foreplay! A Sexy Storytelling Open Mic, biweekly in New York.
Damian Bellino is a comedian and writer-performer and short man. He currently writes about high brow reality television for VH1’s blog and cohosts the fanatic variety show So Into It at UCB East the first Tuesday of the month. Damian is the creator of the storytelling show and meme, My High School Boyfriend Was Gay which was featured in The Village Voice, The Stranger, Marie Claire, InTouch Weekly, AM New York and Out. He loves mustard and Glenn Close. He hates short jokes.
Comedian and singer James Bradford is best known for portraying himself . . . sort of . . . on the VH1/LOGO television series “Can’t Get a Date.” He has toured the globe with his ragtag band “The Mana-Mana’s,” and his sold out Fringe show “Thick!” drew in crowds from as far away as the bar downstairs from the stage. He’s been a musical theater queen, a DJ and for two years a professional cocksucker. Combining wry observations on pop culture with his unique brand of queer-eye-hilarity, his stories will leave you shaking your head. Whether it’s in laughter or confusion is really irrelevant.
Lynsey G is a writer, reviewer, interviewer, columnist and blogger writing for and about sex, feminism, and porn since 2007. Formerly a smut scribe for Fox, Juggs, and Tight magazines, she’s also written for xoJane, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Luna Luna Magazine, and WHACK! Magazine. She’s still on a high after winning a 2013 Feminist Porn Award and is now at work blogging at her own website, working on a graphic novel, and whoring it up with the New York City Poetry Brothel.
Nisse Greenberg talks to his friends over the phone when he can, but relies on email too much. He’s trying to stop that. It makes him feel like they’re disconnected, y’know? He hosts this show called Bad Feelings that’s really interesting and Jefferson is going to be on the next one which is March 27th, so you should come! It’s part of a weekly storytelling series that he is the curatorial manager for at The Tank Theater. Talk to him after the show if you wanna get involved. He also used to produce this show called Drawn Out Storytelling that he’ll probably do some more work with in the future. He likes beginnings, gets confused by endings and has a hard time getting through the middle.
Jon Klein has performed at open mics and storytelling venues throughout the Boston area. He won a MassMouth StorySlam and is competing in this month’s semi-finals. Jon founded and was executive director of three nonprofit organizations over a twenty-year period: an AIDS prevention organization targeting sex workers and IV-drug users, another providing support to and advocacy for LGBT youth, and a thrift store benefiting the LGBT community. Jon’s unusual life – frequent long-distance hitchhiking, living on $300 a month, not paying rent or a mortgage since 1980, refusing to pay federal income taxes since 1981 as a conscientious objector to war, having bipolar disorder—provides fodder for his material, as does his hypersexuality (psychiatric term for “slut”).
Ben Lerman is an award-winning comedy musician and songwriter. Ben plays colleges, clubs and festivals as a solo comedy musician. He’s a popular guest on radio and podcast shows like The Frank DeCaro Show on SiriusXM and the Keith & The Girl Podcast, and he has appeared on Logo TV and Here TV. His debut music video was featured on Atom.com. Ben was nominated for an Excellence in Comedy in New York Award for Best Musical Comedy Act in 2011. He won the award for Best Male Comedy Musician at the 2012 New York Funny Songs Festival. In 2012, Ben started Big Band Hot 100, where a twelve-piece band plays covers of the current Billboard Charts with guest singers from all over the New York City performance map, including Jackie Hoffman, Julie Klausner and Xavier.
