Kate Greathead is a four-time Moth StorySLAM champion. Her work has been featured on the Moth Story Hour, the Risk! podcast and The Hairpin.

Lauren Maul

Lauren Maul

Lauren Maul, a nice white lady from Nebraska, creates characters and puppets that can be seen around New York doing weird things. She’s the brain behind two monthly comedy shows—a variety show called “Bitchcraft” and “Dudes Being Dudes Being Dudes,” show where gay men and ladies dress up like straight men and do stand-up.

Afterbirth Monkey is a comedy band based out of Astoria. They derive everything they do from intoxication and magic. You should exercise caution when crossing the street for tacos at the taco truck while intoxicated because Afterbirth Monkey will be waiting there and you will probably want to do it with them while you wait for your order.

Hailing from a small town in coastal Maine, Jessica Delfino grew up with the characters from Stephen King’s novels as her neighbors, and thus, today is a quirky, critically acclaimed pop musician who sings songs mostly in the key of strife, usually with a sense of humor to them.

Robin Gelfenbien

Robin Gelfenbien is a writer, comedian and storyteller who has written jokes for Rosie O’Donnell and starred in a commercial directed by Spike Lee. She has appeared on Vh1, Sirius Radio and AMC, and her critically-acclaimed solo show, My Salvation Has a First Name (A Wienermobile Journey), premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival. Robin is the creator of the monthly storytelling series, Yum’s the Word, that features her homemade ice cream cakes. She is also the co-host and co-producer of the storytelling/reading series One To Grow On. Robin is currently working on a memoir about her life on the Hot Dog Highway.

Josh Gondelman is a writer and comedian who incubated in Boston before moving to New York City. With years of experience as a preschool teacher and a pretty good guy, Josh charms audiences using his good-natured storytelling and cracks them up with his sharp, pointy wit. He currently works as the Web Producer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO and has written for Esquire, Elle,  and Cosmopolitan.

Miss Mary Cyn is a classically trained actor and writer who takes off her clothes in bars. She’s currently releasing a series of short ebooks entitled Kat McKinney, Wedding Slut. Under the name Alithea Howes, her published writing includes “Trick or Treat,” a story in the paranormal anthology Three’s a Charm, as well as My Lolita, her exploration of Vladimir Nabakov’s masterpiece from the titular heroine’s point of view, and a hilarious true life story of a sweater fetish in the anthology Johns, Marks, Tricks and Chicken Hawks.

She is a regular at comedy and storytelling events throughout the city, including The Soundtrack Series, How I Learned, So Into It and New Work New York, and is the cohost of Cojones at The PIT. She is also a busy voice actor who can be heard selling you many wonderful and useful products on television and radio. She is a fun-loving Taurus, once sat in Julia Roberts’s piss and is a hit at parties.

Polly Superstar is a twenty-first-century sex culture revolutionary. She has dedicated her life to the sexually progressive community as a latex fashion designer, a creator of arty, sexy parties and a spokesperson for sex culture. Born in London, England, in 1974, she is the daughter of a hot air balloon pilot and a sex therapist. She relocated to San Francisco—home of the sexual revolution—in 1999. Her award-winning event Kinky Salon takes place in a dozen cities across Europe and North America. She recently joined forces with Christopher Ryan, author of New York Times bestselling book Sex at Dawn, to create Kotango.com, a social network for global sex culture.

Juliet Jeske is a comedian and writer. She’s appeared in the New York Fringe Festival three times, Off Broadway and toured the country twice with Cornerstone Chorale and Brass. Since switching to comedy she’s appeared at Comix, Broadway Comedy Club, The PIT, UCB and has been a host of variety and burlesque shows around New York City. Juliet is currently working on a memoir about being married to a gay clown, and is a frequent blogger and pundit on the Huffington Post.

Jenice Matias is a non-union, energetic, spontaneous Nuyorican baby boomer, recently nominated to the 2014 NBC/UCB Diversity Scholarship Showcase top-twenty finalist list. An actress, dancer, singer, improviser and educator, Jenice has told stories at The Moth, Whatever Happen To The Nerds, Animated Stories, RISK!, Local Stories, Shut Up, The Lost and Found Show, Casual Sketch and Bare! Her stories can be heard on Splitsider and iTunes. Jenice wrote and performed the one-person shows “Pussinomics: A Comedy” and “I Have No Luck With Men.” She is currently working on “Shadow Bat,” true paranormal stories performed in darkness, and “I Don’t Suffer From Insanity, I Enjoy Every Minute of It,” an autobiographical play about life with her mother, an abortionist for the Mafia in the 1960s.

She’s also written for Fuse and Wizard Entertainment and a whole bunch of ad campaigns, including Viagra, which is the least funny thing she’s ever done.   She was nominated for an Emerging Comics of New York Award, but isn’t sure if she’s emerged yet. You might have heard her on RISK! or seen her telling stories and doing stand-up around town. Her one-person show, Unmolested?, recently appeared at the Plus One Theater Festival. Most importantly, Joss Whedon follows her on Twitter, so you should, too.

Carolyn Castiglia is a comedian, television personality and writer. She appears regularly as a talking head on HLN, and has made many memorable cameos on cable networks including VH1, MTV, Comedy Central, Food and more. You may have seen her as NickMom’s Ultimate Sports Mom, or in her recent appearance on Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? on WE. Carolyn has been making web content since 1949, but highlights include essays on Jezebel and Babble, as well as appearing in and singing on The Key of Awesome parodies that have millions and millions of hits. She lives with her incredible daughter in Brooklyn.

“Beautiful Weirdo, Professional Shitshow” Üla Überbusen is an award-winning burlesque performer, emcee, ukulele strummer, teacher and professional actress based in New York. She produces and hosts Victrola Burlesque, Tainted Cabaret at The Slipper Room, and the Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour. When not on stage performing theater and burlesque, she teaches her Storytelling through Burlesque workshops to aspiring performers. Üla holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Miami and studied with the Shakespeare Theater Company and the New York School of Burlesque.

(live show and podcast), The Soundtrack Series (live show and podcast), Stripped Stories and The Moth StorySLAM (where she tied for first place with her “After Hours” story in March 2011).

She now runs her own PR and production company in New York City, books comedy for The 92YTriBeCa, and is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir Burn Down the Ground (Random House). A renowned storyteller and public speaker, Kambri has performed on The Moth’s Mainstage, The 92Y, SXSW Comedy, Risk!, UCB Theatre, Gotham Comedy Club and given speeches at SXSW, DeafHope, and many other schools, colleges, venues and events.

Rob Paravonian is a comedian and musician whose clever lyrics and catchy songwriting have created fans across the globe. Rob, once called a “deranged bastard child of Tom Lehrer and Joan Baez,” has performed throughout the U.S., he recently appeared on Dutch Television, and his videos have been posted everywhere from The Onion A.V. Club to the Wall Street Journal.

Hillary Rea is a comedian and storyteller, and the host of the storytelling shows Tell Me A Story and Fibber. She is a recent Moth StorySLAM winner and was just published in Painted Bride Quarterly. She was a 2011 Artist-in-Residence for Elsewhere Artist Collaborative in Greensboro, NC.

Dan St. Germain

Dan St Germain was chosen as a featured comic in Variety’s annual prestigious “Ten Comics To Watch” list, was listed as one of Paste Magazine’s Top Ten Great Underrated Comedians, and Time Out New York chose him as their “Comedy Break Out” of 2013. Dan’s Comedy Central special The Half Hour hit the airwaves earlier this year, and he’s now busy developing his own show on FOX. He has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Best Week Ever, We Love the 2000′s, John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, The Electric Company, and a bunch of other basic and not-so-basic cable programs. He’s the creator and star of the web series Kicking Dan Out featured on My Damn Channel, In Security on Comedy Central Studios, and has collaborated with Above Average. Dan’s been a guest on WTF with Marc Maron, You Made it Weird, Ron and Fez, and The Artie Lange Show. He’s starred in a SuperBowl commercial with Howard Stern, Jack Links promos for Comedy Central and was selected by Time Out New York as having one of the best jokes about New York City, a list that included Woody Allen. Dan’s first album, Bad at the Good Times, is forthcoming from aspecialthing Records and he was on @Midnight on Comedy Central and the Adam Carolla show in May. He is a storyteller frequently seen on stages around New York and elsewhere, including The Moth, where he is a StorySLAM winner. He is also host of Foreplay! J. LaLonde has been on the radio since he was sixteen years old. He’s been heard in Southern Oregon, Eugene, Seattle, New Orleans, Miami, Palm Beach, The Keys and Knoxville. His show’s guests have ranged from Presidents and rock stars to Oscar-winning actors and Hall-of-Fame athletes. He’s considered one of the youngest major-market morning show hosts in radio history. LaLonde currently operates Man Speaks Noise, a voice-over studio in New York which records audiobooks, radio, TV & digital campaigns world-wide. He is also a national touring comedian and just completed his first European tour. He filmed his first stand-up DVD at The Historic Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, TN in 2011. You can see him on ION TV where he co-writes and co-stars in Investigating Greatness. He currently writes for WORD THUG from Brooklyn.

Mindy Raf is a writer, comedy performer, and musician based in Brooklyn, New York. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and grew up in a suburb of Detroit right around here (visualize the bottom of your left thumb. Mindy has written for CollegeHumor, VH1, TNT, The Daily Comedy Network, and was a contributor to the My Parents Were Awesome anthology. She plays guitar, autoharp, and loves interpretive dancing in the privacy of her own apartment. Her first novel The Symptoms of My Insanity (Dial/Penguin) was just rereleased in paperback.
